Objective For trainees to receive relevant information regarding the available digital tools for training, and several criteria to choose the proper tool(s) for teaching
How to conduct it Module 1
Connecting to topic – 10 min
1. The trainer introduces in brief the tasks of the workshop
2. The trainer facilitates the involvement of the trainees by presenting short videos with digital tools:
· Hardware tools – PCs, tablets, smartphones, smartboards, pointers, beamers
· Software tools – platforms for teaching and training (Edmodo, Socrative, Projeqt, Thinglink, TED-ed, ClassDojo, Storybird), office kits, etc.
Interaction – 20 min
1. The trainer shows a table with specific hardware tools and asks the trainees to try to describe their functionalities and to compare them from the possibility to be used in teaching and training.
2. After 3-5 descriptions, the trainees are encouraged to ask questions related to the functions of those tools.
3. Open discussion is encouraged by the trainer
Topics detailing - Brief presentation of the digital tools, both hardware and software types – 15 min
1. Trainer gives mini lesson to clarify:
· What functions can be used for teaching activities?
· What are the differences between the hardware digital tools?
· How to recognise different platforms for teaching and training? Topics to discuss:
· Hardware tools – PCs, tablets, smartphones, smartboards, pointers, beamers, etc. Software tools – platform for teaching and training (Edmodo, Socrative, Projeqt, Thinglink, TED-ed, ClassDojo, Storybird), office kits, etc.
Module 2 Exercise – Case study – 40 min
1. The trainer creates 5 groups of max 3 participants
2. Each group will receive the tasks to analyse a hardware tool for teaching and a learning management system, for 5 min each, and to characterize their potential to be used in teaching activity
3. Each group will shortly present own work and the trainer will encourage the critical and in common analysis of the activities
Closing remarks Closing – 5 min 1. Trainer makes short review of discussions 2. Trainer presents relevant conclusions
