Objective For trainees to understand the ethics of using and spreading the online information
How to conduct it Module 1
Connecting to topic – 10 min
1. The trainer introduces in brief the tasks of the workshop: online environment, searching for documents, select the relevant documents, fakes
Interaction – 20 min
1. The trainer invites the participants to divide into 3 groups of max 5 participants.
2. The trainer prepares 3 notes with:
· Ethics – Property - Online - Information
· Browse – Identify - Choose – Decide if false or true
· Communicate – Information - Tools
3. Each group extracts, in blind, one of the three notes and for 1 min prepares short description of the selected subject.
4. Each group presents own descriptions
5. Open discussion is encouraged by the trainer
Topics detailing - Teaching elements and methods – 15 min
1. Trainer gives mini lesson to clarify the main elements related to Ethics, Using the internet resources to gather information for contents, and the interaction of the same or complementary communities to exchange relevant information for their work.
2. Topics to discuss:
· Internet and browsing
· True and False information on web
· Use of posted materials (texts, images, videos, …)
· Ethical issues related to intellectual property and related to the words to address
· Digital tools to browse and communicate
· Web communities and their communication
Module 2 Exercise – Case study – 40 min
1. The trainer creates 4 groups of max 4 participants and randomly assigns a number from 1 to 5 to each group.
2. Each group will receive specific tasks:
Group #1: 1 participant to send archived and not-archived document, (document that contains relevant information for the discussed contents) to the rest of the group by using e-mail and different social media platforms (WhatsApp, FB, etc.)
Group #2: Establish a subject and use internet browser to identify the 3 sources of information. Each member of the group will have 2 min to extract short but relevant information from the assigned website.
Group #3: Trainer will give a subject to seek on the internet in image format and use internet browser to identify the 3 sources of information. Each member of the group will have 2 min to extract 2 pictures, to analyse the information inside and to decide on the image to keep; ethics on using the chosen images from the internet will be discussed within the group.
Group #4: Receives information from the trainer and, using internet browsing, tries to find out if the information is true or false.
3. Each group will shortly present own work and the trainer will encourage the critical and in common analysis of the activities
Closing remarks Closing – 5 min 1. Trainer makes short review of discussions 2. Trainer presents relevant conclusions
